Passerby is an ongoing photographic and oral archive documenting women, inviting reflection on womanhood and revealing what often goes overlooked. Founded from the desire to turn the gaze toward the women who pass us by in the metro, on the street, or serving our coffee, broadening the scope of how women are typically portrayed in media.

The platform currently exists as a website, Substack, and Instagram account, where in-depth interviews, street encounters, and personal recommendations take center stage. They offer candid and intimate insights into the lives of remarkable women from all walks of life who deserve far more recognition than they often receive.

For passerby’s street interview series, I created a reportage of women encountered on the streets of Amsterdam. I approached them in conversation, photographed them, and asked about what drives them, where they find inspiration, and what holds meaning in their lives.
